Door 5 jaar rijping op PX-vat krijgt deze genever een volle, ronde smaak met tonen van gedroogd fruit, rozijnen, dadels, citrus, donkere chocolade en zoethout.

De PX-invloed zorgt voor zachte sherryzoetheid, terwijl citrus en kruidigheid de smaak mooi in balans houden.

Zuidam 5 Year Old PX Single Barrel: The Taste of Luxury

At Zuidam Distillers, the Single Barrel series is the showpiece of the collection. For the Zuidam Old Genever 5 Year Old PX, each cask is personally selected by master distiller Patrick van Zuidam. PX casks are known for giving tremendous color and flavor to the distillate. During 5 years of maturation in the warm warehouses of Baarle-Nassau, a magical interaction takes place between the wooden staves and the malt wine.

At Brouwhoeve, we appreciate this particular bottling for its almost decadent character. It is a genever that comes close to the line between luxury spirit and dessert wine. Because it is a Single Barrel, every batch is unique and limited. The rich influence of the sherry casks never masks the foundation of juniper and malt; instead, it lifts it to a higher level of complexity. This is a genever for moments when only the very best will do.

Taste & character

Aroma An intoxicating, rich bouquet. You immediately notice sweet aromas of raisins, dried plums, and figs, beautifully framed by milk chocolate, vanilla, and a subtle spiciness from juniper and malt wine.

Taste The mouthfeel is syrupy, full, and silky. On the palate, a true explosion of flavor unfolds: from burnt sugar and toffee to deep fruity notes from the PX sherry. The rye in the malt wine adds a fine spicy counterpoint, keeping the balance between sweet and savory perfectly intact.

Finish A very long, warm, and lush finish. Dried fruit and dark cocoa linger for minutes, ending with a gentle hint of oak.


Serving tips & pairings

  • Neat: This genever deserves to be enjoyed neat from a tulip-shaped glass at room temperature. Take your time and let the aromas develop.
