Domaine des Marronniers Chablis 1er Cru Montmains is an ode to the purity of Chardonnay and the unique Kimmeridgian terroir. Where standard Chablis focuses on freshness, this Premier Cru offers impressive suppleness and a richer mouthfeel through ageing for 16 months on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks. 

This results in a brilliant golden-yellow liquid full of notes of citrus blossom, white flowers and a recognisable silky-smooth feel with a characteristic powerful mineral structure. Bottled at 13.0% for the ultimate balance between aromatic power and a vibrant, saline finish.

Laurent and Marie-Noëlle Ternynck have created crystal-clear layering in this recipe by using only 41-year-old vines from the very pebbly Butteaux terroir. What makes this release special is its crystal-clear texture; the wine is fermented with natural yeasts, providing a crystal-clear expression of the flint and oyster-fossil nuances in the soil. This is a drink that brings the vibrant energy of the historic heart of Chablis directly to your glass.

Flavor & character

Aroma A powerful and enticing bouquet. Immediately recognisable are the sparkling notes of fresh citrus fruits and elderflower, beautifully complemented by aromas of fresh almonds, hazelnuts and a subtle, fresh iodine hint that pleasantly stimulates the nose.

Taste The mouthfeel is smooth, broad and extremely balanced. On the palate, layers of green apple and white peach, with a striking balance between taut acidity and refined minerality (wet stones). The alcohol percentage of 13,0% supports the full body beautifully, with nuances of citrus and chalk lingering long and harmoniously for a clean finish.
