Aroma An intense and enticing bouquet. Immediately recognisable are the rich notes of blackcurrants and cassis, complemented by aromas of violets, cedarwood and a subtle spicy touch of dried fynbos, tobacco and graphite.

Taste The mouthfeel is full, oily and warming. On the palate, layers of dark chocolate, ripe plums and a striking mineral freshness remain beautifully balanced with the firm yet silky-smooth tannins. The 14,5% alcohol provides a beautiful structure in which the savoury nuances combine perfectly with the concentrated fruity core.

Finish A very long, elegant finish. The intense notes of black fruit and oak slowly fade away and make way for a warm memory of mild spices and a hint of mint.

Serving tips & pairings

• Breathe: Given the enormous concentration, it is essential to decant this wine at least two hours before serving.

• Potential: This is a true wine for cellaring that will continue to develop beautifully in the cellar for 10 to 15 years.

• Gastronomy: Excellent with refined, powerful dishes such as grilled beef fillet with truffle jus, rack of lamb with a herb crust or aged blue-veined cheeses.

• Moment: This is the ideal wine for a memorable dinner or an exclusive tasting, where the complexity of the Vinography series can take centre stage fully.
