Benguela Cove Cuvée 58 Brut Rosé is an ode to traditional ageing. Where other sparkling rosés strive for simplicity, this Méthode Cap Classique offers impressive depth and a richer mouthfeel through ageing of at least 12 months on the lees. 

This wine, in which Pinot Noir plays the leading role, results in a velvety wine full of notes of wild strawberries, Turkish delight and a recognisable floral feel. Bottled at 12.5% for just that little extra power and character.

Benguela Cove Cuvée 58 Brut Rosé: The elegance of Pinot Noir

The Benguela Cove Cuvée 58 Brut Rosé is considered by many to be the 'sweet spot' of the sparkling collection. After twelve months' rest in the cool cellars of Walker Bay, the wine has fully developed its refined mousse and rosé-gold colour. What makes this release special is the craftsmanship in which the Pinot Noir is combined with a hint of Sauvignon Blanc, creating a unique tension between the red-fruit aromas and an invigorating maritime freshness.

At Brouwhoeve, we appreciate this Cuvée 58 Rosé for its complex simplicity. It is an honest Cap Classique that has been given time to breathe, with partial malolactic fermentation (25%) providing a considerably fuller texture and a creamy mouthfeel without losing the lively acidity. This is a modern classic that shows the cool sea breeze of the Atlantic Ocean and the traditional method are always rewarded with exceptional refinement.

Flavour & character

Aroma An intense and enticing bouquet. Immediately recognisable are the rich notes of wild strawberry and raspberry, complemented by aromas of Turkish delight, violets and a subtle hint of grapefruit and nougat.

Taste The mouthfeel is full, oily and refreshing. On the palate, layers of red berries, pomegranate and a striking creaminess remain beautifully balanced with the mineral undertones. The 12,5% alcohol provides a beautiful structure in which the fine, soft mousse pricks the taste buds in an elegant way.

Finish A long, elegant finish. The fresh notes of strawberry and grapefruit slowly fade away and make way for a clean memory of nougat and mild floral spices.


Serving tips & pairings

  • Serving: The ideal way to allow the refined aromas and rosé-gold colour to show fully at their best is to serve the wine between 8°C and 10°C in a generous tulip-shaped glass.

  • Moment: This is the ideal wine for a festive garden party, a romantic dinner or as a luxury aperitif where the elegance of Pinot Noir can take centre stage fully.

  • Gastronomy: Excellent with smoked salmon, fresh oysters or Mediterranean antipasti. Also fantastic alongside fruity desserts such as macarons or a creamy strawberry mousse.

  • Pro tip: The combination of Sauvignon freshness and Pinot weight also makes this rosé a surprisingly good partner for light Asian dishes with a hint of spice.
