Bodega Illurce Crianza is an ode to the tradition and craftsmanship of the Escudero family. Where other Crianza wines are sometimes dominated by wood, this variant offers impressive depth and a richer mouthfeel through its focus on ripe, healthy fruit from its own vineyards. 

This results in a cherry-red wine full of notes of red berries, vanilla and a recognisably silky-smooth feel. Bottled at 14,5% for the ultimate balance between the power of Tempranillo and the refined structure of oak ageing.

Bodega Illurce Crianza: Harmony from Rioja

The Illurce Crianza is considered by connoisseurs to be the 'sweet spot' within the bodega's range. The grapes come from vineyards around Alfaro, where the soils are rich in limestone and clay. What makes this release special is the careful ageing; by using a combination of French and American oak, the wine gains both classic vanilla notes and a modern, structured character. The small percentage of Graciano adds just that little extra colour and freshness that distinguishes this Crianza from its peers.

The combination of traditional fermentation and 12 months resting in cask provides a considerably fuller texture and a more intense tasting experience than many standard Crianza wines. Flavour & character

Aroma An intense and enticing bouquet. Immediately recognisable are the rich notes of ripe cherries and strawberries, beautifully complemented by aromas of vanilla, coconut and a subtle spicy touch of liquorice and light toast from the oak casks.

Taste The mouthfeel is full, rounded and highly approachable. On the palate, layers of red fruit appear, with a striking balance between soft, ripe tannins and the silky-smooth texture from oak ageing. The alcohol percentage of 14,5% supports the body beautifully, with the fruity nuances harmoniously merging with the light spiciness of the wood.

Finish A medium-long, elegant finish. The notes of red fruit and vanilla slowly fade away and make way for a clean memory of mild spices and a refined, rounded finish.
