Bernard-Massard Selection Brut is an ode to traditional ageing. Where other sparkling wines in this price class often sacrifice depth, this Selection variant offers impressive layering and a richer mouthfeel through at least nine months of resting on the lees. 

The wine undergoes its second fermentation entirely in bottle, resulting in a velvety wine full of notes of juicy pear, white blossom and a recognisable fresh vibe. Bottled at 12% for that little extra power and character.

Bernard-Massard Selection Brut: Luxembourg elegance

Bernard-Massard Selection Brut is considered by many to be the 'sweet spot' within the range of this renowned Luxembourg wine house. After careful assemblage of various grape varieties from the Moselle Valley, the wine has managed to retain its lively energy while developing mature elegance. What makes this release special is the perfect balance between the different terroirs of the Moselle, which provides consistent quality and a very fine mousse that caresses the tongue.

At Brouwhoeve, we appreciate Selection Brut for its complex simplicity. It is an honest sparkling wine that has been given time to form its characteristic layers of yellow fruit and light brioche. The combination of the cool-headed precision of Luxembourg winemakers and the limestone-rich soils delivers a considerably fuller texture and a more intense tasting experience than many other sparkling wines. This is a classic that shows how the méthode traditionnelle outside France is always rewarded with exceptional refinement.

Flavour & character

Aroma An intense and enticing bouquet. Immediately recognisable are the rich notes of ripe apple and pear, complemented by aromas of acacia, a hint of citrus and a subtle spicy touch of freshly baked bread and light yeast.

Taste The mouthfeel is full, sparkling and very refreshing. On the palate, layers of peach, mild grapefruit and a striking balance between lively acidity and dosage appear. The 12% alcohol provides a beautiful structure in which the fruity nuances remain beautifully balanced with the fine bubbles.

Finish A medium-long, elegant finish. The fresh notes of white fruit slowly fade away and make way for a clean memory of mild floral nuances and an invigorating finish.


Serving tips & pairings

  • Temperature: The ideal way to let the aromas and mousse show at their best is to serve the wine between 6°C and 8°C.

  • Glass: Preferably use a slender flute glass to keep the bead of bubbles for as long as possible.

  • Gastronomy: Excellent with light aperitif bites, oysters, smoked trout or a fresh prawn cocktail. Also fantastic with sushi or light Asian dishes.

  • Moment: This is the ideal wine for festive receptions, birthdays or simply as a stylish aperitif to welcome the weekend.
