Aroma A dark and mysterious bouquet. Immediately recognisable are the intense notes of blackcurrants and wild blackberries, beautifully interwoven with floral aromas of violets and a complex spiciness of dried sage, pencil shavings and a hint of wet earth.

Taste The mouthfeel is monumental and layered. On the palate, layers of dark chocolate, plum compote and a striking mineral freshness keep the wine astonishingly lively despite its power. The 14,5% alcohol supports the body, while the firm yet fine-knit tannins provide beautiful grip and structure.

Finish An endless, powerful finish. The notes of dark fruit and cedarwood slowly fade away and make way for a dry, savoury memory of mild spices and graphite.

Serving tips & pairings

• Patience: This wine needs oxygen. Decant it at least 2 to 3 hours before serving to open the aromatic layers fully.

• Temperature: Preferably serve around 18°C in a large, broad glass to allow the tannins to breathe.

• Gastronomy: An ideal partner for the most robust dishes. Think leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic, wild boar, or entrecôte with a powerful red wine sauce. Also fantastic with very old, hard cheeses.

• Store: Although already impressive now, this is a wine that will only truly show its full potential in around 10 to 15 years.
