Flavour The mouthfeel is full, warming, and extremely balanced. On the palate, layers of grain aromas unfold with a striking balance between the spicy distillates and the silky texture of the malt wine. The 38% alcohol supports the full body beautifully, with the complex nuances of the grains lingering long and harmoniously.

Finish A long, rich finish. The notes of juniper and malt slowly ebb away, making way for a clean impression of grains and a refined, rounded finish.

Serving tips & combinations

• Temperature: Serve this Old Genever preferably at room temperature to fully appreciate the complex aromas. Lightly chilled can also provide a tighter experience.

• Glass: Drink it the classic way: poured into a tulip glass to the rim ('with a head on it').

• Pairing: Excellent to combine with a 'kopstootje' (alongside a strong specialty beer or blonde beer), aged crumbly cheese, smoked eel, or an artisanal Frisian dry sausage.

• Characteristic: Made from 100% grains; the original recipe from 1826.

• Moment: This is the ideal spirit for a quiet moment after a meal, an authentic drink with friends, or as a base for a classic Dutch cocktail.
